Join us and two members of the NYPD Emergency Services K-9 Team and their canine partner for a talk and demonstration showing their work to help keep the city safe!

NYPD Detectives Scott Mateyaschuk and Neal Campbell will talk about the training of the members of the K-9 team and the work they have done after 9/11 to continually improve the animals’ capabilities. Both men have not only worked to achieve higher standards for the K-9 teams in New York City, they have also worked with K-9 trainers from around the world who have come here to learn about their techniques. The officers have also responded to help people across the country after recent natural disasters.

The program will include a demonstration of the training techniques that are used to refine the skills of their canine partners.

The program is geared for families and has been scheduled to coincide with Midwinter Recess. Children will have an opportunity to ask questions and to make special thank you cards for members of the K-9 team.

Dog lovers, children and parents are welcome to attend this event. Due to the nature of the K-9 Unit training, no family pets will be allowed.

This program is free and open to the public, but reservations are requested.
