SUMMARY:My 9/11 Story with Bob
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][mk_blockquote font_family=”none” font_size_combat=”true” text_size=”28″]In January 2002 I started my recovery efforts with the FDNY. I would also be looking for my friend Eddie Day who died on September 11\, 2001… My job was to search through the debris with grapplers\, rakes\, and shovels. There was a lot of dust in the air\, it was in our eyes and mouth. There was no way of getting around it.[/mk_blockquote][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1528902563669{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]You’ll hear from Bob\, a retired New York City Fire Department Lieutenant who was off duty on 9/11 but responded and worked the recovery with hundreds of his FDNY brothers\, for this afternoon’s My 9/11 Story.[/vc_column_text][mk_button dimension=”flat” corner_style=”rounded” size=”large” url=”https://fareharbor.com/embeds/book/tributewtc/items/46642/availability/53806749/book/?flow=4574″ fullwidth=”true” margin_top=”60″ margin_bottom=”60″ margin_right=”0″ btn_hover_bg=”#3d4045″ btn_hover_txt_color=”#ffffff”]Get Your Museum Tickets[/mk_button][/vc_column][/vc_row]

DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1527795761386{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]The 9/11 Tribute Museum\, an official partner of the 9/11 Memorial Museum\, presents We Were There\, a weekly public program featuring two 9/11 Tribute Museum volunteer guides sharing their compelling and poignant personal stories in the Memorial Museum auditorium. \nThis week\, you’ll hear inspirational stories from survivor Peter and family member Matt. \nA 9/11 Tribute Museum moderator sets the historic context for each of the stories and connects them to artifacts and issues that the visitors may experience in the Memorial Museum\, transforming history from something abstract and distant to something that is close to each listener’s experience. The program closes with an opportunity for the audience to discuss and reflect on the stories. \nHoward Milstein/Emigrant Bank is the proud sponsor of the We Were There Program.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Gallery Guide - Vic
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][mk_blockquote font_family=”none” font_size_combat=”true” text_size=”28″]I’m meeting people coming down and they tell me ‘Vic you are going the wrong way.’ I say ‘No\, I got people that are trapped up there and I need to get them out.’[/mk_blockquote][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1528902059468{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”]Vic Guarnera was the contract manager for security systems for the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey at the World Trade Center in both 1993 and 2001. He spent the morning of September 11th working to get people out in the safest ways possible; his knowledge and expertise of the inner workings of the buildings helped him to accomplish his mission. Instead of leaving the buildings\, Vic ran upstairs and\, with police officers and firefighters\, was able to help get more people safely out of the North Tower. Now\, Vic shares his story as a 9/11 Tribute Museum tour guide. \nBe sure to talk to Vic in our galleries this afternoon to share his 9/11 experiences and answer your questions.[/vc_column_text][mk_button dimension=”flat” corner_style=”rounded” size=”large” url=”https://fareharbor.com/embeds/book/tributewtc/items/46642/availability/53806748/book/?flow=4574″ fullwidth=”true” margin_top=”60″ margin_bottom=”60″ margin_right=”0″ btn_hover_bg=”#3d4045″ btn_hover_txt_color=”#ffffff”]Get Your Museum Tickets[/mk_button][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Monthly Happy Hour at Suspenders Restaurant & Bar
DESCRIPTION:Join volunteers\, staff and friends of the 9/11 Tribute Museum for the first of a series of monthly happy hours where a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Tribute.   \nThe event will take place at Suspenders Restaurant & Bar\, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.  Started by four members of the FDNY\, the original Suspenders location on Broadway closed in 2014 but reopened in its current Greenwich Street location and has been welcoming back many of the same customers to their favorite neighborhood hangout. Having weathered both the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center and the September 11th attacks\, Suspenders is an important part of the fabric of both the local community and area small businesses.  \nYou will be supporting both Suspenders and the 9/11 Tribute Museum with these monthly events and ensuring future generations will never forget. So stop by\, mingle with old friends and make some news ones\, all while supporting a good cause!
