The 9/11 Tribute Museum Continues Its Mission Online
The 9/11 Tribute Museum closed the operations at 92 Greenwich Street NYC in August 2022. “Financial hardship including lost revenue caused by the pandemic prevents us from generating sufficient funding to continue to operate the physical museum,” said Jennifer Adams Co-Founder and CEO of the 9/11 Tribute Museum. The Tribute Museum’s online presence will allow us to continue providing educational resources and support for the 9/11 community.
The non-profit organization known as the September 11th Families’ Association, which founded the 9/11 Tribute Museum, is working closely with the New York State Museum to facilitate the transfer of the Tribute collection. The Association is coordinating with all of its donors to ensure the exhibits and artifacts are respectfully and properly handled.
For 15 years the Tribute Museum has shared educational resources for teachers and students online, reaching classrooms around the world with personal stories. The Association is proud to continue its mission with its focus now being on an online, interactive engagement with the 9/11 community. The Tribute Educational Toolkit offers interactive video stories of people who were deeply affected by the attacks and reveal how they responded with humanitarian initiatives that strengthened their local and global communities. These stories encourage an understanding of the facts of this contemporary history and a focus on the extraordinary civic response.

About the September 11th Families’ Association
Founded in November 2001, the September 11th Families’ Association united to provide a voice and support to the 9/11 Community. In 2006 the non-profit September 11th Families’ Association opened the 9/11 Tribute Museum, which has welcomed over 5 million visitors to learn factual information from the personal perspectives of the 9/11 community. The Tribute Museum educates students and visitors on the history, the unprecedented rescue and recovery operations, and the rebuilding of both Lower Manhattan and of people’s lives. Tribute Museum presents videos, artifacts and “Person-to-Person History,” linking visitors who want to understand the historic events of 9/11 with those who experienced them. Visitors discover the tremendous spirit of resilience and service that arose after the attacks, and are encouraged to honor the legacy of that spirit through volunteerism and acts of kindness in their own communities.
